According to James Dyson, founder of the company: “The hair dryers can be heavy and inefficient. After thorough research, we discover that, in addition, they can cause significant damage to the hair due to the high temperatures they reach. I challenged Dyson’s engineers to really understand the science behind hair care and develop a hair dryer that ended these problems.”
Dyson has invested €60.5 million in the development of the Dyson SupersonicTM hair dryer, including the creation of a laboratory dedicated to specifically researching hair care. Dyson engineers have studied hair from the root to the tips, understanding how it reacts to stress, what is best to keep it healthy and how to mould it.
After four years of research, they tested the product with different hair types and developed a series of test banks that simulated, mechanically, different hair drying techniques. To perform these tests, about 1,625km of human hair were used.
