The Sony A7 III Camera has a suitable design for both photo and video applications in a variety of working situations. The 24.2MP full frame CMOS Exmor R BSI sensor and the BIONZ X image processor are combined to achieve a 10-fps shooting speed and improved autofocus performance for faster and more reliable subject tracking along with a high speed and low-light performance. This updated Fast Hybrid AF system employs a combination of 693 phase detection points and 425 contrast detection areas for faster approach acquisition in a variety of lighting conditions and also maintains focus on subjects more effectively.

24.2MP Exmor R BSI CMOS Sensor and BIONZ X Image Processor
With a backlit design, the 24.2 megapixel full frame CMOS Exmor R sensor works with the BIONZ X image processor to deliver high-resolution video and fixed images while minimizing noise and improving speed. This sensor structure works with a slot-free lens design on the chip and an anti-reflecting coating to improve light collection and improve details. The combination of sensor and processor also allows fast and continuous shooting of up to 10 fps to maximum resolution, up to 177 consecutive frames and with full-time AF/AE when working with a mechanical shutter or an electronic shutter. If you shoot in the live display mode, a continuous shooting speed of up to 8 fps is possible.
Fast Hybrid AF system
An evolved 4D FOCUS system employs a combination of 693 phase detection points, covering approximately 93% of the box, along with 425 contrast detection areas for an automatic approach and a reliable and fast subject tracking. This Fast Hybrid AF system achieves double focus speed and more reliable tracking compared to previous a7 models, as well as an improved low light approach. The use of phase detection points also allows the use of mount A lenses using LA-EA3 or LA-EA1 lens mount adapters (not included) with full continuous AF/AE tracking compatibility.
SteadyShot INSIDE Image Stabilization
A7 III has a 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilization system that compensates for the five different types of camera shakes that occur during manual shooting of photos and video. This allows users to use with confidence any lens, even those adapted, to get critical images without tripping to the camera movement.
Video recording UHD 4K in XAVC S format
The internal recording of UHD 4K films is possible at multiple frame speeds of up to 30 fps and the use of 2.4x over-sample provides greater detail and it is possible to read complete pixels, i.e. without pixel compartments to obtain higher-quality images with less muaré and aliasing. The 4K full frame recording has also been dramatically improved to improve quality when working at mid- and high sensitivities to allow full use of the entire sensor width. It offers wide customizable color and gamma controls, allows users to adjust the gamma, black level, color level and more.
Integrated body design and Wi-Fi / Bluetooth
An X-Tru OLED Tru-Finder viewer is presented, with a resolution of 2,360,000 points and a 0.78x expansion for a bright and sharp display in great detail. This viewer design also allows the use of automatic focus in the approach zoom mode, as well as an improved focus increase to benefit the manual approach operation. 3-fashioned rear LCD display with 921,600 points, has a touch panel design for intuitive operation and focus control. The screen also tilts up 107° and down 41° to benefit from working from high and low angles. The magnesium alloy chassis ensures rigidity, durability and stability without being light. The lens mount has also been improved to better support heavy lenses and the grip stiffness has been improved for a more comfortable hand grip. The climate seal has been used to resist dust and humidity for reliable operation in adverse weather conditions. Using the NP-FZ100 battery, a7 III has improved battery life and now has a capacity of approximately 710 charge shots. Dual SD memory card slots allow flexible file storage and handling, and can be configured to partition RAW and JPEG files or can be used for overflow recording. One of the card slots is designed to support UHS-II memory cards. (non-inclusive)
A C-type USB 3.0 port has been added, in addition to a micro-USB port, for faster and more reliable anchor support. The C-type USB connection allows the camera to load from the host power supply while connected. Built-in Wi-Fi allows a7 III to instantly share images on mobile devices to send through social media, via email and cloud storage sites. It also supports NFC (Near Field Communication), which allows the connection of a touch between the camera and compatible mobile devices; no complex configuration is required. Once connected, the linked mobile device can also display a live visualization image on your screen and remotely control the camera shutter. Bluetooth connectivity allows the acquisition of location data.
An advanced measuring sensor of 1,200 zones provides consistent and accurate results using multiple segment measurement modes, weighted to the center or point.
The Highlight and Average measurement modes help to prevent off reflexes and provide stable automatic exposure, respectively.
The anti-parking shot automatically recognizes and synchronizes the shutter action to minimize the blinking effect and obtain more consistent results in fixed images.
