Following the arrival of standard target 30mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary and 16mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary, the third member of this series of DC DN optics designed for APS-C and Micro Cuatro Tercios cameras could not be another one than a remote lens. This is how the SIGMA 56mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary, the smallest medium with an F1.4 luminosity for mirrorless bodies, bursts on stage.
Showing the excellent image quality and compact and lightweight design that are the sign of identity of the Contemporary family, this optic incorporates the cutting-edge technology of SIGMA and provides the bokeh and luminosity that can be expected from a F1.4 target, even with a focus equivalent to 84 millimeters in APS-C bodies.
A complete and solid APS-C camera system without mirror
Over the years SIGMA has deployed an extensive line of fixed and luminous optics covering from a wide angle to a telephoto lens. The offer of this catalogue has been expanded after the irruption and subsequent popularization of the mirrorless cameras, for which SIGMA has conceived a range of optics that cover all the key focal points with a very high performance and a compact body that gives them enormous portability.
Designed to be a light and compact tool for daily use, SIGMA DN optics for mirrorless cameras provide high performance in a selection of key focal distances. This objective follows the trail of 30mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary, with which SIGMA inaugurated in 2016 this series of prime optical for mirrorless cameras. The 16mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary also joined an F1.4 luminosity with a top-level optical performance.
A compact design with an image quality that rivals the Art range
To achieve such a compact construction, optical design has been proposed taking into account the camera's correctional functions aimed at correcting the amount of peripheral light and distortion (only if the camera allows it). In addition, axial aberration, difficult to remove by image processing, is efficiently corrected with the incorporation of an SLD crystal element. In this way a compact and lightweight construction is achieved that goes hand in hand with excellent image quality.
The optics take advantage of its great luminosity of F1.4 to achieve a considerable bokeh even forming a couple with an APS-C camera. Its small and light body makes it perfect for daily use, being ideal to capture various types of scene, from portraits to night pictures.
